SPLIT

A week ago I was in Croatia, Split, for the Fearless Conference. The Fearless community is a group of wedding photographers from all over the world that make outstanding work. (please have a look to understand what I am talking about :-) www.fearlessphotographers.com )

Because I'm a newbie, I had no idea what to expect. But I did not expect it to have such an impact on me.

To be honest, I had a blast, I cannot imagine another group of colleques being so nice and friendly towards eachother en be able to inspire and motivate like they did. And that is exactly what they did. Inspire and motivate...

It made me feel totally humble and see my work with other eyes. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of my work, but now I know that I need to try harder.

So this year I made a choice, a choice I took out of my heart, because that person opened his soul to me. I've asked Wellington Fugisse to mentor me, because we all need people to grow and learn from. I want to keep failing forwards in order to achieve my goal: Be the best wedding photographer that I can possibly be. Notice the word: I, it's not my goal to become worlds best wedding photograper.. no... I just need to know I'm doing everything that's in my power, to be become the best I can be.

That means: practice, practice and practice even more. It means stepping out of my comfort zone. It means trying all that stuff I find difficult or had excuses for. It means trying, failing and never ever give up. And finally it means listening to my heart.. (saying and doing are two completely different things ;-) )

But it also means being here for my own family, because when all is done and over with, my own memories is what I take with me.

Im excited for the road ahead and curious where I am next year!
